WHAT WE OFFER
Background
An NGO working in skill development for underprivileged communities never considered hiring persons with disabilities in their workforce. They focused on women’s empowerment but had no structured disability inclusion policy.
Challenge
No hiring framework for people with disabilities. Lack of awareness of how to integrate disabled employees into NGO work. No policies or accessibility accommodations in place.
Solution
I conducted a DEI Awareness Session for the NGO’s leadership and HR team, covering: The importance of intersectionality in diversity (gender + disability inclusion). Case studies of how persons with disabilities contribute effectively in the workforce. Practical steps to onboard, train, and integrate visually impaired employees.
Outcome
The NGO hired three visually impaired trainers to teach skill development courses. They introduced accessibility-friendly training materials for better engagement. Their leadership team advocated for disability hiring in other partner organizations.
