Case Study Highlight

How my DEI advocacy led a mid-sized organization to hire its first visually impaired employees, redefining workplace inclusion.

WHAT WE OFFER

Background

A mid-sized financial services company in India had never hired a visually impaired employee. Despite having an internal diversity policy, they lacked real-world implementation of disability inclusion. Their leadership team believed that hiring persons with disabilities (PwDs) would require additional resources and effort that might not justify the outcome.

Challenge

Leadership and HR teams lacked awareness of how to integrate disability inclusion. Employees were unaware of how to work collaboratively with PwD colleagues. There was no infrastructure in place for accessibility accommodations.

Solution

I conducted an intensive DEI Leadership Workshop focused on: Breaking unconscious biases regarding PwDs in corporate environments. Implementing low-cost yet high-impact accessibility solutions. Creating a culture of inclusion through inclusive hiring and leadership strategies. I also mentored the HR team, guiding them on how to craft job roles, onboard visually impaired employees, and create an inclusive work environment.

Outcome

The company hired its first two visually impaired employees in customer support and HR operations. A structured PwD inclusion policy was created, extending opportunities to more candidates with disabilities. Employee engagement increased, as teams felt proud to be part of an inclusive organization.

Key Takeaway

True corporate success lies not just in profit margins but in creating workplaces where talent is recognized beyond limitations.
